Summer Homework

 Dear viewers,

You guys are in a for a treat. This monthly set features the summer homework I had to do for AP Studio Art and there was a lot of stuff. The summer homework includes information of at least 5 artists, at least 20 reference photos, at least 10 reference items, 5 sketchbook drawings, and at least 4 projects of high quality.

First, here are the reference photos.

After the photos, the homework demanded that we have at least 10 items that would inspire us throughout the year. these things include notes, pictures i did when i was younger, and business cards. I'm sorry if some of these pictures are sideways.

Next, we had to get information from at least 5 different artists. I chose Alice Neel, Chuck Close, both portrait artists, Andy Warhol, a pop artist, Claude Monet,a landscape painter, and Pablo Picasso, the co-founder of cubism. these pictures, unfortunately, are also sideways.

After the art bios, the homework required us to do at least 5 sketchbook assignments with inspiration from our references. each assignment had to include an object drawn from life. It encouraged us to experiment with new techniques and medium and " go down idea wormholes". Like the other pictures, these are also sideways.

Now here come the projects. We were given several prompts we could do, but we had to do at least 4. I chose to do a portrait of my dad, a tempura on canvas still life, a landscape watercolor, and a color pencil cubism piece. The point of these projects was to demonstrate our ability to use multiple mediums. All of this is going to my Breadth section of the portfolio.

Well, that's my work so far. I hope all of you enjoyed what I posted and come back for next month's set!

 Sincerely, Andy Li

Landscape Painting

So this piece here is a gouache (pronounced gwash) watercolor of a fence that was crushed by a tree. i came across this when i was taking my dog out for a walk and decided to make it my landscape painting. here's the reference photo i used and the actual painting.

old sketchbook

 Dear viewers,
Here's Andy's first monthly set of pictures. The following set consists of Andy's old sketch book, in his first year of studio art. It's full of thumbnail sketches of various projects he had to do throughout the year, and random drawings he did when he got bored. This will be over various months of sets. This months set is about dinosaurs, cheesy and kidsy i know.. but they are still pretty cool.... so.... yeah check it out.

                                                                     Most Sincerely,
Paul the author & Andy the artist
